What’s the Problem

We speak the same language,
but hear different things.

I say “I’m tired.”
You hear “I don’t care.”

That’s where it starts.

Not hate,
just moments,
where we don’t try.

We want to be right
and heard,
but that’s not the same thing.

So we build walls,
call it pride,
and wonder why
no one gets through.

It’s not impossible
to get along.

It’s just hard to listen
without getting defensive.

And harder to admit,
it’s not just them
